Job Mission

Do you like to dig into various databases containing millions of technical documents to search for information to support Envalior to speed up R&D, in getting the best patents and to find out what competition is doing? Are you able to track down that specific document that can ultimately make the difference between winning and losing a patent case? Do new technical developments in various fields appeal to you? Are you interested in performing statistical analysis relating to a company or technology and presenting your insights to Envalior? Then we have an interesting job for you!

Job Description

You will be a colleague of one other Patent Information Professional in the Envalior IP team, which further consists of 3 Patent Attorneys, one Patent Information Professional and one Formalities Officer.

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Act as sparring partner for patent attorneys and other internal customers to identify information need.
  • Conduct patent searches (novelty, validity, clearance, collection, portfolio), review search results and report findings in a complete and concise manner to customers.
  • Track down relevant (patent)literature to better estimate the patentability of inventions, to conduct oppositions against granted patents, and to be able to make a basic estimate of the ‘freedom-to-operate’ for clients.
  • Support and further develop Envalior Patent Alert System.
  • Monitor developments in specific patent granting procedures.
  • Provide technical and statistical information regarding patent literature in a specific field and/or related to a specific market/company and communicate observed insights to the Envalior community.

The right candidate we are looking for:

  • has a chemical background, preferably in the polymer field;
  • is able to efficiently extract relevant information from a large number of technical (patent) documents;
  • has completed or is prepared to follow the post-HBO training “Patent Information Specialist”;
  • is proficient with modern search methods and searching through (patent) databases or is willing to learn these skills;
  • has a broad technical interest outside their own field of expertise;
  • is analytical, critical, meticulous, can work independent and is tenacious;
  • has excellent writing, reading, speaking skills in English.
