Your Role:
As a Polymer Processing Expert, you will play a critical role in optimizing our polymer processing capabilities. You will leverage your expertise to improve production efficiency, enhance product quality, and contribute to our cutting-edge projects. Your insights will help us stay at the forefront of innovation, allowing us to serve our customers better and create sustainable materials for tomorrow.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Leading the development and implementation of advanced polymer processing technologies and techniques.
- In this role, you will be responsible for participating in process development activities or providing essential support for product development.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including R&D, to support the launch of new products and enhance existing product lines.
- Conducting experiments to test and optimize processing conditions for various polymer materials.
- Providing training and guidance to production staff on best practices in polymer processing.
- Staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in polymer technology.
- Applying Rheology and Processing expertise to processes and applications at our customers
- Design products to be fit for specific Processing Techniques, via polymer architecture and morphology
What We’re Looking For:
- PhD in Rheology or Fluid Mechanics or Material Science with focus on Polymer Processing. This includes Modeling (conceptual) and Experimental (practical) and preferably also Numerical (flow simulations) or a relevant degree in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience preferrable in polymer processing or a similar role within the plastics or chemical industry.
- Strong knowledge of A, B, E nook Rheology.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a passion for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Social skills, Communication (spoken and written English) to interact at different levels (practical /conceptual) and functions (internal /external)
- Balance attention over several locations (Geleen /Dormagen /other)
- Dare to challenge (internal /external)

Challenges:
- Fragmented work package, because serving multiple regions and interfaces, need to prioritize
- Work with incomplete information (customer trials typically don’t share all the details)
- Customers often want a ‘material solution’ rather than them changing hardware or settings
Range of techniques includes:
The comprehensive range of manufacturing techniques encompasses a variety of advanced processes designed to meet diverse product requirements and enhance our production capabilities. Among these techniques are:
- Blow molding – a process utilized for creating hollow plastic parts by inflating heated plastic into a mold.
- Fiber / yarn spinning – a technique for transforming raw fibers into durable yarns suitable for various applications.
- Roto molding – a method that involves rotating molds filled with material to create large, seamless products.
- Foaming – a process used to produce lightweight, insulating materials through the expansion of gases.
- Welding techniques – various methods employed to join materials together, ensuring strong and lasting bonds.
- Bond-laminates – a technique where layers of materials are bonded together to enhance properties and performance.
- Nano Molding Technology – an advanced method that allows for the precise formation of materials at the nanoscale, offering superior characteristics.
- Film extrusion – a process used to create continuous plastic films through the extrusion of molten material.
- Cast film – a technique for producing thin plastic films by casting the material onto a surface and allowing it to cool and solidify.
- Injection molding – a widely-used manufacturing process for producing parts by injecting molten material into a mold.
- Compounding – a procedure that involves mixing materials together to create a homogeneous mixture with specific characteristics.
- UD tape – a unique manufacturing process that produces unidirectional (UD) tape, which is essential for high-performance applications.
These techniques reflect our commitment to employing cutting-edge technology and methods to deliver innovative solutions tailored to our costumers needs.
If you’re ready to take the next step in your career and make an impact in the world of sustainable materials, apply now and let’s shape the future together!
